Can’t go to a festival? Bring the festival home

This client and his friends were all planning to go to a music festival this weekend. This obviously didn't happen. So they did the next best thing - hired a hot tub and had their own. A beautiful home in Berkhamsted was the venue, with the courtyard brilliantly decorated ready for a few friends to arrive.

Back and forth to Berkhamsted again this year :)Definitely not complaining though - enjoying setting up in the sun, and getting hot tubs ready for long warm evenings under the stars. It's the perfect recipe for killing time during lockdown, and according to the WHO, chlorine is pretty effective at killing covid-19 too, so it's win-win.

Strange start to the year

Strange start to the year

As everyone endures lockdown, there's no denying it's been a very strange start to the year. We're all in the dark about how long it will all go on for and the long term implications, but there's a few silver linings as far as I can see. Communities coming together and a general spirit of 'we're all in this together'. More than anything else, we're all appreciating the work of those previously massively under-appreciated. Everyone I've spoken to with gardens (in my line of work, that's everyone), certainly recognising how fortunate they are to have that outdoor space. Hiring a hot tub, is possible and seems to give some welcome relief to them (and kids) from the monotony of the crisis. We're incredibly busy - particularly in Harpenden and Berkhamsted, largely…

Berkhamsted – School’s out for Summer!

I always think hot tubs bring people together. One interesting thing which isn't often considered is that people usually (and sensibly) ban mobile phones from the tub. While some initially resent the idea, I always hear how a family have sat in the tub playing silly word games, or best friends have set the world to rights, or a couple have discussed their next holiday. This wasn't any of those things. Organised by Joe, this was a community of (mostly) teachers from Berkhamsted school, celebrating end of term! Setting up in a communal space, this was all about celebration. Everyone was included, even a passing resident who they hadn't been able to contact previously, was invited. It sounds like they had an amazing night! [caption id="attachment_277" align="alignright" width="169"] Berkhamsted School…

Berkhamsted Birthday Party

I'm not ever going to tire of visiting beautiful houses in Berkhamsted, particularly when you know the kids are going to have a wonderful birthday party. This family were going all out, so a bouncy castle was on its' way for delivery just after us! As usual, I ended up chatting endlessly and it was interesting to hear about their travels and living in Asia, followed by a return to Berkhamsted. A very different environment, but when you have a garden as beautiful as this, why would you ever leave? One of the many things I love about my job is all the different people I get to meet and the beautiful gardens I get to see. Catriona and her fantastic garden in Berkhamsted didn't disappoint. Perfectly located and looked out on from a recently extended kitchen, her patio lent itself as the perfect location for the hot tub. Hired as party of her daughters' birthday celebrations, I heard someone stand at the door, see the tub and exclaim "You're the best Mum ever!!". Made me very happy! Another thing that makes mine a great job.
